The fact that it will start and run normally when cold but has problems after it warms up, in my way of thinking, points to an electronic problem....the Crane ignition.
Do you still have the stock distributer in the car?
Does the coil you are now using have an external resistor? If so, the next time it won't start, try bypassing the resistor with a temporary wire. Don't leave the jumper wire in place permanently as the coil will overheat.
