1997 V90, rear shocks??? 900

Dear Faust,

Hope you're well. The rear shocks for V90s apparently have letters stamped into them. Which part number - and the prices - depends critically on that letter. As I do not own/operate any V90, I do not know where this marking might be on the shock housing.

According to Volvo VADIS (a superseded dealer parts/service database):
If the letter "V" is present, the replacement part is #221897 ($343).
If the letter "Z" is present, the replacement part is #272209 ($282).
If the letter "W" is present, the replacement part is #272220 ($159).
The prices shown are retail at a US Volvo dealer.

I do not know how these parts differ, one from another. Perhaps these units have different load-bearing capacity. As to that, I'll defer to Board's 960/S/V90 experts.
