OEM motor mounts 200 1988

Hi joekidd,

The motor mounts you have should have a steel plate surface on each flat side. One each side there is a threaded stud and an alignment pin to both align and secure the motor mount to the engine mount bracket and the lower cross-member mount bracket.

If using a trolley, or floor jack to raise the engine, DON'T:
- use the oil pan to raise the engine . The oil pan is not meant endure engine weight and will cavitate, damaging the oil pump.
- use the harmonic balancer crank pulley either to raise the engine.
- use the thin aluminum metal that guards the timing belt behind the harmonic balancer crank pulley as the thin aluminum alloy will probably fracture at the worst or you can dislodge the entire timing cover causing severe oil leak at the least.

Some may use the alternator bracket with bottle nose jack. Some may use an overhead lift method.

As you can see in these iPd USA Volvo standard (versus the more durable diesel 240) motor mount images, both sides have a steel plate with threaded stud and alignment pin.

I'm unsure, yet I believe, if yours appear the same, the seam around the bushing material circumference closest to one flat side of the mount usually points up.

The proof of fitment will show in the fitting. One alignment pin is either longer or of a larger diameter. One of the threaded studs on one side may be longer. However, I'm unsure.

Yet both sides of the mount should be a hard steel with hardware.
