fixed fan but A/C not reconnected... 200 1991

I am not sure which fan went bad but if it was the outside fan, then yes. There are two connections underneath the hood, which you can check.

One is next to the firewall on an aluminum vessel. Located near the top is a low-pressure switch.

There should be a plastic connector on it with two wires to fit onto the two prongs of the switch. The switch breaks the two wires, which is a circuit to stop compressor from running if it becomes low on charge or the evaporator is sufficiently cold. The A/C technicians may have had the connector off to bypass the switch and left it off or the terminals inside it may have become loose.

The next place is down by the compressor. There is a one-wire connector, white or gray, that comes out of the harness and goes to a single wire from the front end of the compressor. The wire provides power to the magnetic clutch that engages the compressor.

If you had the interior fan changed out then things are harder to check due to their location under the dash.

There is another connector to the on off switch connector behind console panel. You maybe able to pop it out the front or loosen the whole console front and peek behind it for the wires to it.

If the unit worked after the work was completed, I am afraid that these connectors may not fix the problem as they usually fit securely if put back on.

Good luck in your search.

Phil
