Hi. I have a 1998 850 Volvo Sedan which is running well enough for me to want to continue to fix it up even more. I bought it from a guy who refurbishes Volvos and then sells them. He's also my mechanic. Right now it's a silver color but I was thinking of painting it a different color after I get all the dings out. I've been told several different opinions - 1, if I paint it other than the factory color it will loose its value or 2, it doesn't matter as long as it runs. My mechanic says it doesn't matter. The Volvo dealership said it will.
I love this little car so much (even though it's low to the ground and reminds me of a Flintstone car) that I intend to keep it running for a long time. This is the first I haven't had a SUV in 30 years.
Thanks in advance if you know whether or not it would loose its value if I had it painted a nice turquoise.
