Got my first Pfizer shot.

Not that it's that good at protecting against the Omicron Persei VIII version of Covid. Two days in & nothing but a lump in the arm. Having said that, if you don't hear from me again, you know what happened. Of course it was a piece of cake, I've already had an Astrazenica & an Astrazenica, I'm wondering what shot I'll get for jab number four.

How many jabs are you up to & what are you getting next?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much does your government suck arse?

        5 Moderna jabs

        Howdy 🀠 Partner
        Seasons Greetings!

Yes, don’t forget to vaccinate all your Wowo’s, Kit! And your dog Puppy Love too…

Well, I broke down since my last post in this thread and got some more jabs. Latest Tuesday - jab#5. Moderna Bivalent booster (booster# 3 pour moi). No COVID in this house so far πŸ€žβ€¦ Between too many cortisone shots plus COVID shots I’ve been jabbed more in the last 2 years than perhaps the rest of my life!

Wrist reconstructed and Carpal Tunnel surgery done together. Wrist feels better than since before the fracture.

        Where are you in Washington?

I also gots the flu jab. No COVID here, so far as I know.

            Wrist

Heard anything lately from Old Duke? Haven't seen him post in a long time.

What is going on with your wrist? With everything I've been through with my wrist, through osmosis I've now become somewhat knowledgeable about wrist issues...:) Got Carpal Tunnel as a result of fracturing my 2 forearm bones (radius and ulna) at wrist. Bone malunion (radius shifted later), radius rebroken, bone graft from my hip/pelvic bone and plate/screws inserted. Surgery last month to remove plate and screws. Hooray!

So what are your symptoms? Carpal Tunnel type stuff?

                Here ....:)

                How do Kit!!

Many apologies for the delayed response. Dealing with mucho issues myself. My Mom is 92 and lots needs to be done. Enough said...

Let me back up this bus momentarily to my original post Dec 30 2022.
"Have something important to tell you."

Some Background Info: I had previously posted in December looking for Klaus C on the AWD forum as he had not posted for 4 months, but sadly no response. (Bill) B.B. kindly posted to me that Klaus C. had a health issue. Then later he emailed that Klaus has leukemia and might not see the New Year. The good news is Klaus did indeed see the New Year and is still with us but sadly is now in hospice. Back then, B.B. agreed that I could inform you privately as I know you are friendly with him. At that time this was not public knowledge, so therefore the reason for my request to you to email me as opposed to posting this openly on the BB.

Check this out........ Klaus did post this on the AWD forum on Jan 13, 2023

                https://www.brickboard.com/AWD/index.htm?&mo=3&yr=2023&model=&more=2&no_date=1&x=0&unex=1687597#1687597

KGV don't blame yourself for Old Duke's disappearance into Stinking Creek and the great beyond.... Maybe he got busy just like us??? Miss him. He was one of my favorites on the Board. Great sense of humor!

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Are you feeling any better? Getting older is certainly not a walk in the park. Miss my younger days of carefree partying and chuckwagon consumption. No health thoughts. Opiated hash - NP - sure I'll try that...

Thumbs up on the Diabeetus Wilford Brimley frog!! Sounds like you are on the same crappy drugs as B.B. He told me you can reach out to him if so inclined. Let me know. Take care of your health and check out all your options. As a close of friend of mine who recently passed advised me - Be your own best advocate!

Overdue for bloodwork myself. Sometimes I suspect I too have type 2 diabetes. Got to have it checked out. Watch out for that sugar demon. It's addictive as hell. Think my ticker is still ticking though. 2 EKG's - NP. Systolic blood pressure does tend to run high so I watch my diet.

Wrist is doing great - Thank you! Don't ever break your wrist though. Break your hand or your arm first not your wrist. Just like ankles there is a hell of a lot going on there. So, 2 1/2 years later, 2 surgeries (3 including Carpal Tunnel) and almost a year of therapy I have pretty good function with my hand and wrist now but will never be 100%. Carpal Tunnel also gone except for a little bit of numbness in 3 fingers and palm.

Of course, now my other hand (left thumb) needs arthritis surgery. Don't want another long recovery (3 months +) so trying Prolotherapy now to avoid surgery if possible. And my hip is screaming at me too. Bursitis and tendonitis. Better than arthritis I guess! OK, OK, OK - I'll stop complaining now - just don't let me get any older please ...:)

Was recently thinking about Coeur d'Alene. Beautiful place. Miss the Northwest.

                Jim

                  Here ....:)

                  Hi Mr.Walker,

Glad you and B.B. are well.

Yeah, that bag oh them diabeetus drugs make me more goofy.

Gotta go back to misery state. Other two 240s have set since October 2021. I did not fog the cylinders as I imaged I'd be back in a few months. Some penetrant oil into the spark plug holes and let set for a day or two. I have a tin of that Kroil. Has hoped to swap the exhaust on the rusty 1990 li'l red wagon. I have the 1991. It carries me where I point. EGR valve is failing. Yet have the parts to block it.

Uncle Art likes 240 patina, I guess? I'll post an image here someplace for him.

I still fell bad about Uncle Old Duke.

Maybe the high line like where Havre (have-er) MT state? Had hoped for North Platte, NE yet they be goofy. In WY, the gubernator there said he'd outlaw electric car sales in 2035 as the current goofy CA-gubernator said he'd outlaw new gas cars in 2035.

The PacNW may be nice for the place and weather, yet the people in red, purple, and blue state are all goofy, unless you are rich, and then you vote on karp that effect other, not the rich so much.

Moar Puppy Love on flea Bay, yet no 164 models:

                    OD story

                    Happy Sunday beh,

After helping him once with his 240, Old Duke invited me for a drink with him at Stinking Creek. Think it was Sloe Gin?? Always thought it would be fun πŸ˜† to have a cocktail with you and OD aside Stinking Creek in the swamps of FLA listening to OD pontificate on the state of the world 🌎!!

He once said something to you that I think you should always keep in mind when you think of him. Did a search here πŸ‘€ but couldn’t find the post. Not a quote - but it went something like this…. β€œKit - Your knowledge of Volvos is impeccable and you are a great resource for us all. Wish you nothing but the best in whatever endeavor you pursue. I second that and add β€œDon’t ever quit”. I try to tell myself that everyday. Particularly important when times are tough.

                    Jim

                      Happy Sundae Mr. Walker!

Thank you. Please to know Uncle Owld Duke in in fine fettle. Wish he'd return to the brickboard and tell us about slow launches in his 1992 240 and his Saturn 9forget the year).

Glad you are okay with our 300 and counting COVID flu shots!

Else, it appears I'll be starting a new technical writer role with a Suomi (Finnish) company that makes energy storage systems globally. My CAD work in SolidWorks (and other CAD tools) seems to have sold them with the telecom (outside plant - OSP) and VRLA battery filled battery cabinet energy storage system near here in Spokanistan, Slumkant, SpookyLou (in the dark months), or what I call the St. Louis, MO city region of eastern WA-state and N. Idaho. Both are criminal "thug life" regions with the criminal people en masse and the local gendarmes doing nothing. Versus St. Louis city police risk their life to build a criminal case and the almost former prosecuting DA doing nothing for years.

My hopes is to be asked to go to Suomi and defect with an invitation. I'll sit on the border and pull a finger to keep the war-making rooskies owt. Ha! Like to motor the Volvos 240 in Suomi (Finland). Suomi, the language, is way harder than Svensk, Norsk, and Dansk (Danish).

I doubt I'll ever own a P1800 as David Bello is doing here:

                        Happy Sat-Your-Day, Mr. Walker,

You also live in FL-state near Uncle Old Duke?

Is he doing well, I hope?

It's terrible hot North American Summer. So he's motoring in his Saturn as that has AC?

Ask Uncle Old Duke to post here again. Need to here more about Tobacco Road and Stinking Creek. That Uncle Old Duke is okay as is his 1992 240 Wagon with M47 II manual gar box.

I'd hoped to visit OD in Fla. state and share some of the ripple (or make some with grapefruit or other soda). The Wilford Brimley type II diabeetus and other medication may preclude me from imbibing.

                          Le Bon Weekend Monsieur BEH!

Yes, OD should be posting in this thread for sure! Where is he?

No, I reside in Taxachusetts USA not FLA USA. I have vacationed in FLA many times but I would never live there (perhaps in the winter only??). Much too hot and humid for me during their brutal summer. Also, there are some real loony people in that state. In another life, I also resided in NW Portland, Oregon and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. As I recall, Old Duke was originally from NJ before moving to FLA. However, since we are both from the NE originally I understand and can appreciate his NE style humor!

I do hope he is doing well. As we are both well aware, things change. Yes, sometimes life throws up a roadblock or two. Maybe the 240 is gone? Nonetheless, would be good to see him post again. Maybe we could all still enjoy that drink (non-alcoholic is ok of course!) by Stinking Creek someday??

Congrats on the new job! Working for the Fins, eh? Any of the Scandinavian countries seem like good places to live. More progressive than Les Etats Unis. I remember you writing about how dark it is in northern Idaho and Spokane in winter. Beware - Before you jump to relocate to Finland, there are only 6 hours of sunlight in Helsinki in winter. Personally, I couldn’t handle that! That's a little too dark for me. Too cold as well 😬. Would need a winter escape with sunshine and warmer temps!! Perhaps a Greek isle? Shortest winter day in MA is about 8 1/2 hours of sunlight. Remember Portland OR (where I lived 30 years ago and might retire there soon or Bellingham WA) was about 8??? hours. I like the idea of living in any of the Scandinavian countries but the winters would be tough for me as I have SAD and the cold bothers me more than when I was younger...

How’s your health? Hope it’s improving and those drugs aren’t screwing with you too much. I hate prescription drugs and only take them when necessary. Now some of the recreational psychedelic drugs. That's a different storyπŸ’«πŸ„πŸπŸŒ»β€¦ Did you know that LSD is being researched regarding its potential to help with mental health issues? Positive studies are out there. Who would have known…

Hope your wrists are all right as rain and in the pink!

Sorry for the delay. I've been out of my mind with this heart failure thingy and wurking on the next jobby job since August. WA-state version of expended medicaid. Ain't no single payor like in Finland and where Volvos used ot come from like yours and Uncle Arty B's and everyone's.

No Uncle Owld Duke. I take that blame he does not post so much here anymore. Maybe his 245 is not a swell ride so he is in his Saturn more often? I had hoped to visit his FL-state paradise. Maybe his 245 is amphibious and he can dish from the driver's seat. From stinking creek out to sea?

I also gots teh LOL Cat osteopathy from Wilford Brimley type 2 diabeetus.

I started getting it play drums in high school, working handsy jobs like motels and cleaning motel rooms (eeeeewwwwwwwwwww), working in restaurants, and working turning wrenches for pay sometimes on cars and fixing other stuff.

I also had a few accidents and landed on hands. So all I can do and it get painful is type-er-write at the keyboard for pay. Large CAD models on slow workstation full of malware make it worse. That was some years ago.

The beta-blocker, makes me woozy and light headed. I can haz a heart failure with swollen featsies and fluid filled lungs. It was awful. Lots of pills now. Don't smoke, sort of fat, no arteriosclerosis. No need for MO or WA state Bob Marley with a side of the Peter Tosh. Not a huge boozer and smoker like those that came before me and croaked all already.

Also had a few crashes. Mostly repetitive motion. Weak wrists and weak heart?

Sorry to be slow in responding.

Don't blame me. I voted for Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland!!!!

Finland, a REAL Republic, like Switzerland.

No Republic in N. America anymore if ever. 'Murika.

                          Sorry to be sloe gin.

Montana also has a good take on expanded Medicaid like WA and MN so I read. Like the wind whistling and howling in granits mountains.

                          I'll email you.

Yet my email is the handle here at teh LOL cat gmail dot come. I'll get you from my working email, though.

                          Got my first Pfizer shot.

I got a Moderna booster in the latter half of November, following a pair of Pfizer jabs last spring. With the rampant spread of the omicron affecting so many of my friends and colleagues, I can't help but feel that it played a role in my not catching it (yet).

I had a worse reaction to the flu vaccine this year than to any of the Covid jabs. I had side effects, but on the whole the Covid vax was energizing, made me feel good that I am doing my part to protect myself and the slice of society I interact with. Similar to the feeling I get when I give blood.

I'll keep getting the jabs as they are prescribed. I trust that the science is sound. Vaccines are real, effective, not a money grab, etc etc.

So, how bout that Novak Djokovic? What's the not-so average Australian Volvo enthusiast feel about him getting kicked out of the country for his no-vax shenanigans?

                          I’m a Moderna lab rat

A 6 on the suck scale. Being generous because I don’t see too many better alternatives out there.

2 Moderna vaccines and 1 Moderna booster. The booster is supposed to provide protection from the Omicron variant. Second shot was the pits. 36 hours of feeling chilled/feverish. Sore and itchy shoulder for 9 days. Felt like I had poison ivy under my skin! On American radio recently a Doc/Specialist in the virus field said anymore than 4 vaccines is counterproductive. Personally, I'm done with three.

Still everything else that I've been through recently pales in comparison to the wrist reconstruction surgery I just went through 3 weeks ago. Rebroken radius with a titanium plate inserted, carpal tunnel release and, worst of all, a bone graft from the iliac crest (top of pelvic bone on your side). I could handle everything else but that bone graft was so f***** painful. 3 weeks and it is finally feeling better. This was bone graft #2 for me. 6 years ago I had an infected root canal that spread to my jawbone. Sore jaw for months. Moral of this story - don't get a GD bone graft unless absolutely necessary!

                            I am alive!

You need a new doctor as you should have got an alternate vaccine to the 1st two.

I had AZ, AZ, then Pfizer. AZ one was a night of fever, AZ 2 was a non-event, the Pfizer shot gave me an Arnie sized deltoid + swollen lymph nodes in the 'side boob' region, but basically a non-event.

I think the old school AZ for shots 1 & 2 followed by the new school nRNA Pfizer was the best way to go & after my Pfizer shot, I can see why there is much reluctance to get a vaccine in the USA.

The US government tried to get the AZ shot through the FDA, but Moderna & Pfizer said NO! I remember a time when the FDA was GOLD Standard for the rest of the world, but that was an eternity ago. AZ costs about 3 USD a shot vs 40+USD for the new mRNA type vaccine.

Also noteworthy is that the old school AZ type COVID vaccine gives a mild one half of actual COVID symptoms, while the mRNA vaccines give a mild other half of COVID symptoms. In other words, if the vaccine you got felt like you were going to die, then COVID itself would have killed you.

I still wonder what is shot number 4. The Omicron variant & it's brother seem weak, but there is a chance that such an easily but mild virus could next mutate into something lethal.
