As the CEO of GM's Onstar division said about their GM Onstar modems. When the signals went from 2g,3g to 4g their modems were backward compatible. Now with 5g that will not happen.

It is estimated that over 60 million cars will lose their wifi connection with 5g and that includes Onstar break down protection, accident reporting, etc.

Last week I received notice that my 2016 will lose wifi when 5g is rolled out.

One guy that paid $61,000 when he bought his Lexus said he will never buy another one. Why? Because Lexus is leaving him hanging high and dry --- no fix will be available.

The Lexus owner above just saw a very steep decline in the value of his vehicle and can't fix it.

The Volvo email did say something about a fix may be available.

I've read Volvo owners that say -- "I'm mad; I don't use wifi; just pay for the fix; stop complaining and other replies. The problem is that if we owners don't stop up and complaining the car manufacturers treat us like a junk yard dog.

Imagine if today I get a letter from Xfinity my internet provider that says , you can no longer use Linux --- you must use Windows. I'd be ticked off. BUt of course there are those that just roll over like a good boy and would switch to windows. Me and my 7 computers in the house and all my friends would be ticked off.

So what is happening to cars is the more technology that is poured into the cars the less say we have about our cars. If we weren't tied into arrangements like VIDA maybe some third party modems would be available and we DIY types could do the fix.

I'm about ready to try and find a cream puff P544 the car I had when I was a kid. A car that anybody can work on. ;)

If there aren't any reasonable fixes available I am wagering on a lot of ticked off people in the future. Out of 66 million cars even if only half get irate that is a lot of people.
