Visiting Gothenburg

Next month I'll be travelling to Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg, for a few days. Alas, it will not be for an overseas delivery of a new Volvo. Life partner has a conference there, I'm tagging along.

I'm quite excited to go on a pilgrimage to the birthplace of Volvo and to experience the Volvo Museum and Visitor Center.

It appears that SKF may also have a visitors center, though, as much as rolling-element bearings excite me, I have a feeling there are better, perhaps more cultural, things to see. I wonder, who here has been? Any tips? I'm interested to hear any advice on travelling there, what to see, eat, experience, bring back, etc, etc.

Regards,
Will

Sweden is expensive, even for a Mercan but the food is good i.e. they don't really do junk food. Cheaper than Norway though, which IS expensive. I haven't been to Gothenburg but, if it's anything like Stockholm or Malmo, you'll like it. Regards.

I think it would be fascinating to see how bearings are created. How do they get them all the same diameter? Why can't the Chinese make bearings?

I understand the food is expensive, along with liquor. Stick to local beer and wines.

I was contemplating buying a V90CC, until I sat in one and found that the inside rearview mirror blocks half of view out of the windshield. Not drivable. No OSD for me.

Yeah, it is still me, but I had to change my name due to password loss. Likely a sign of old age.
We went to Gothenburg on a day trip from Oslo a long time ago. Our travel at the time was shopping for a life partner and Jr3, and food. I remember what we bought the kid, but not the lunch.
I can suggest a trip to Oslo, but not much else sticks in my mind.
Good to hear from you, and it seems your life is working for you.
    Nice.

      Hiya Ed(2)!

I had the benefit of having a second (older) handle to work under while I had forgotten this one for the past couple years. A day or two after starting this thread it finally came to me. Got me thinking more, it's hard for me to believe that it's been 19 years since I first started loitering at this site.

I feel very fortunate to find myself in my current life; Not saying I have my shit together, but it's working better than ever for me.

It's good to hear from you too. I hope you're having a good harvest up there.

      -Will
