Don't get me wrong, I LIKE 240s. The V70 seats are lower to the ground, making egress/ingress difficult for us 'older' folks. The fwd design creates a crowded engine bay compared to the 240s. The 5 cyl engine has much more power than the red block, but the timing belt must be changed before breaking and the oil breather system needs to be replaced at the 120K mark.
The V70, which began in 1998, is quieter than the 240. It gets comparable mpg. The seats are very comfortable. The rear seat legroom is about the same. The usable storage space behind the rear seat is slightly less than the 240(smaller hatch opening). Most of the V70s come with a moon roof, which can leak after 10-15 years. The bodies are all double sided galvanized, no rust!
Now, the Craigslist add you pointed us to is a terrible example of a V70. The AC probably doesn't work (knob is in max cold position) and is a very difficult repair. Hub caps, no power seats, needs a new driver side seat skin, mileage not listed and probably high. Price tag about $1000 more than the car is worth.

Yes, it is prior salvage. It depends on what the damages were and where the car was repaired. Remember, these cars are expensive to repair and insurance companies write off a lot of cars with "minor" damage. But the miles are reasonable, the seats are nice looking. It could be a good buy, so long as every feature works.
