NOTE
What started out in 1995 as an involved project was finally completed this year. It did not help matters when the car sat for 10 years - that ended up with the replacement of the starter ( West coast moisture ), fuel tank ( same problem ), radiator and the heater core. One positive note is that even though the custom made three row rad ended up deteriorating from corrosion a much better aluminum one replaced it. The same situation occurred with the heater core, left too long without any antifreeze. The 5.0 L itself and the AOD transmission came from a red 1993 Mustang fastback back in 1995 which had approx. 10,000 km ( 6,000 mi. ) at the time before being put side ways into a pole. That's one way to get a low mileage engine. Interior is black leather from a 1982 245, along with the dash, and a tailgate from a 1992 model. Also put a set of 1983-85 U.S. bumpers on and the late style windshield. The hood is from a 1980 242 DL. as is the grill, cut down to fit between the new Euro headlights. Mirrors were from the '86 and newer 240's. Also put a pair of IPD sway bars on, as well as braided brake hoses and poly torque rod bushings. The suspension, brakes ( drilled rotors )etc. were rebuilt so basically the car should be good for a few years yet. Oh, and it was brought up from California so the body had very little in the way of rust.
