NOTE |
I've always wanted a 164e. The first Volvo I ever rode in.
A 1972 Volvo 164e at a yunkard in late May 2011. Seeing this actually made me well up in tears. Someone loved this little 164e. I wish I could. Some people want to save the rain forests or save the whales. I want to save all the rear wheel drive Volvos. I'm not kidding. Yet am too poor. |

Installing new speakers into the HT-204 front speaker mounts in my 1990 240 DL wagon (moon roof, stick shift). Speakers came from doors of a 700 series. Applied some barge cement to speaker cone where solder joint connects speaker coil to terminal. A precautionary step as speakers can fail here. |

NOTE |
Just starting a cleanup of the engine compartment, the SU carbs had frozen pistons but they responded to some WD 40 that was handy. Need to change all the fluids, as I do hope the owners will let me try to get it running at least. No doubt the pads are stuck to the rusty rotors. Also hoping the fuel tank is alright and that the engine will turn over. Ten years is a long time to be sitting. |

NOTE |
Found some rust developing on the driver's side close to the rocker as a result of some water leaking in, probably from the vent. Nothing serious though. Otherwise the interior, although needing a good cleaning, is quite original and in nice condition. |

NOTE |
This was a show winner back in the late '80's in the PNW. Unfortunately it has sat for 10 years when the owner, well known member of the local Volvo club in B.C. passed away in 2000.It has been partially covered all that time and although in pretty good shape there is some rust in the back wheel wells and blistering under the paint in a few spots. Hope to get it at least running in the near future as the previous owner's family has decided to sell it. Still need to find out if it has the original fog/ driving lights. |
