This pic shows how the gear selector rod adjuster can disintegrate. The L shaped piece is supposed to be firmly part of the larger adjustment unit picture here as well. Somehow, these became separated, causing the gear shifter to become completely non-functional. There is a bushing also necessary for the gear selector rod to attach to the connector bar/link without having any sloppiness. It is missing from this photo. |

Selector rod shown connected to the link which attaches to a flat link bar which is attached to the gear shifter inside of vehicle that you use to shift gears. This photo shows the selector rod end is in fact attached exactly opposite of the way shown in Volvo manuals. I suspect the manual is drawn incorrectly. |
