NOTE |
I decided to change the timing belt tensioner on my '80 244 because the belt had slipped off. Should be no problem, I though. I ordered the belt and tensioner from IPD. I took the old tensioner off the car. So far, so good. But when the time came to re-assemble the new tensioner to the old spring mechanism, I found that my bench vise would not open adequately far to permit me to use the assembly technique shown in all the books. So this is what I worked-out and I actually think it preferable to the bench vise method. In this case, I was able to "hook" the tensioner's pivot pin on the edge of the workbench to keep the proper position so the spring wouldn't jump to the side as it was compressed. Also the pads on the trigger clamp prevented any damage to any important surface. Clamps like this can be had at Harbor Freight for next to nothing on sale and I am sure glad I had one handy. |

NOTE |
I designed this schematic to show the ECU Reset switch used in my 745. The switch is used when changing from LPG to Petrol in order to erase data sent from the Lambda Sensor. This is essential in order to run both fuels. A number of LPG conversions have installed a switch/relay in the main Fuse #1 circuit. This was done on my vehicle, however, only light gauge wire was used and a number of switches were burned out. Following this schematic allows for a simple SPST switch to be used in a 2.6 mA wire. A much better solution.
Please note that I am a Volvo enthusiast/weekend mechanic and, although my Volvo Mechanic was thrilled to get a copy of this, I am entirely open to be corrected on any of this! |

This hose must withstand heat, vacuum from the engine and pressure from the turbo and is subjected to oil. Over time, it softens and the wall thins out, creating weak spots. |

Huh... Not THAT Technical, and maybe somebody already thought of it. I used two cut off handles from milk jugs for a lo-teck, ghetto fab, bungie cord protector. |
