Hi! I'm trying to identify the black box with the two tabs in the middle, the part next to it with the golden looking canister (that hums), and the long tube (that has no cap at the end) on the right side of that same canister. Any thoughts? |

The water pipes sticking out from the back of the b18 head make it tricker to remove the engine, and the bottom pic shows the dents in the firewall caused by them. I want a better solution. |

Rear of the head b18. These dumb pipes stick out form the back of head and make it more difficult to remove the engine. See the "firewall" pic for dents caused by these pipes. Looking for a better solution. |

NOTE |
This is the "drive" side of the gear. Notice how the pattern is still at 1/3 toward the crown/apex of the gear, BUT it is 1/3 from the TOE of the gear. Previously you saw the coast side. |

NOTE |
Before disassy of the axle I used gear marking paste to see why the rear end has been so noisy for the last few years. Here you can see the "coast" side of the gear. Contact is centered at about 1/3 toward the crown or apex of the gear and 1/4 from the HEEL of the gear.
Next, you will see the "drive" side of the gear and how the pattern is still at 1/3 toward the crown/apex of the gear, BUT it is 1/3 from the TOE of the gear.
Backlash was not measured but felt tighter than most newer gearsets I've seen that were quiet. |

NOTE |
Can anyone tell me what these are? What is their function? Who sells replacements? Some sort of accumulator or checkvalve? Pic is looking forward just ahead of L rear wheel. Ahead of this is the fuel pump and filter tray. |
