For western PA and eastern OH enthusiasts the Eastern Motor Racing Association (EMRA) will be hosting Sprint and Enduro races and Time Trials at the road course formerly known as BeaveRun---now called the Pittsburgh International Race Complex on the weekend of May 19 and 20, 2012.
EMRA is a not for profit, family friendly, all volunteer organization which has been running race events since the early '70's. I have been the photographer for EMRA since 1997--the year I finally got on track (Bridgehampton) with my '69 144S---the Volvo From Heck--thanks to EMRA. Our schedule includes events at Lime Rock, Pocono, Watkins Glen and Summit Point.
The sprint and enduro races are for race prepped cars--roll cages, etc. EMRA recognizes race licenses issued by the SCCA, NASA and others. The Time Trials and High Performance Driver Ed school are open to street legal cars with passing on designated straights only. Factory seat belts and approved helmet are all that are required for the TT's and HPDE's. HPDE students have a full day of classroom and on track activity with instructors. The TT cars are separated into groups according to experience and speed potential and have four on track sessions per day. Race prepped cars are welcome to run in the TT's.
