Seems dangerous? It is!!!

For the first time in 4 years of ownership, I had to put my V70 on jackstands today. Although there is a crossmember in the front that is an obvious place for a floor jack, there is no logical place in the rear to jack up the rear. So, although my judgment told me that it would be unstable to do it, I jacked up the right side, using the jacking point, put in jackstands, and then went to lift the left side using the jacking point. Sure enough when I got the left side about 3/4 of the way up, it fell off the stands on the right. It happened pretty much in slow motion, so I was able to drop the floor jack on the left side, so that the car came down pretty much evenly on all fours.

Then I did it the way I always do. Jack up the front, put two stands in, and go around to the rear. Although it would not be my choice if there was anywhere else, I was able to jack up the car using the rear torsion bars as a jacking point.
