Terrible screeching on startup!!!

After searching the brickboard forum last night after posting this, it would appear that it is a dirty starter. Search the forum under "beating on a sardine can." First thing would be to pull the starter and clean it. I ordered a rebuilt one from Volvo, but I hope I can send it back. Good luck.
