...another easy thing to check (on all 5-cyl FWD cars?):

On my '95 850, the ignition coil is mounted against the inner

left fender. The coil wire runs to the distributor on the near

end of the engine. This run requires the coil wire to pass by

the vicinity of the wires supplying information to the ecu from

the air mass sensor (where the air comes out of the box that holds

the air filter).

If these wires are too near the coil wire, it is possible for the

ecu to 'see' 'disinformation'.

By slightly increasing the amount of 'slack' in the coil wire between

the coil and the air filter box, thus decreasing the amount of 'slack'

at the other end of the coil wire, it was easy to maintain 1" or more

between the coil wire and the air mass sensor wires.
