That sounds like a good benchmark. Oil and tires every 5K miles. I can do both myself (though I think someone said I'd need a special tool to change the oil filter?).
I was thinking about the turning radius and realized it will be a bit more than an annoyance...at least, at first it will be. Parking's at a premium, here in NYC. All the boroughs. I can still remember when I got my first 240DL wagon (the '86) and how blown away I was with it's ability to parallel park in tight spots. Easier than the Honda Accord, Civic, and Mazda 323 that I'd owned.
But I'm really going to put some time into finding a good XC70, I think. The comfort factor's big, but the use as a gardner's vehicle is huge and my wife, at 5 feet tall, does not like the height of all the cars out there, nowadays. The seating/cargo area height of these Volvo wagons are perfect for her.
Oh...one more thing: there's a '93 940 Turbo for sale. It's got 160K miles on it. It's in very good condition and I could get it for about $2500. I just get concerned with that kind of age (in the reliability and parts dept) and a friend of mine has told me that the turbos burn out the engine faster than without. Is that true?
Tanks, again.
