thanks for the reply. I agree with you that the timing belt had probably slipped and was then taken off. I am prepared for that eventuality but will go through the motions too see if there is something to work with in the meanwhile. Having looked over one of the other posts concerning S 70 timing issues I believe that I am looking for a couple of small dots on the back (engine) side of the crank belt sproket that will stradle either side of the groove that will line up with the small pointer on the aluminum front seal casting. Is this correct?
