If it is not the CEM, make them put the old one back in!! And ask for proof. I hate it when they just throw parts at it. Did they explain why it could have gone bad?
Also contact VolvoUSA and let them know, they might be able to help with the cost. I realize it is 7 years old and way past warranty, but it is worth a try.
