Removing residue from dash?

Hi,
I just completed some surgery(successfully) on the glovebox lock:the perennial 850 problem! Anyway, I used duct tape to protect the vinyl in the area where I was cutting with the hacksaw blade. I now have some adhesive residue from the duct tape on the dash. My wife doesn`t seem to think it`s very attractive & I don`t either. What`s the best way to remove it? I`m afraid to use some product that removes adhesive residue but may eat thru the vinyl as well in which case I`d be summarily executed by my wife. It`s her car!!!
