ABS module TRACS versus no TRACS 850

I was told by the dealer that the ABS tracs on my 850 GLT is a common problem. Mine is fine for now, but I was looking at some online to see what the cost owuld be in the case it went out. I have to questions for the brickboard.

1.Can a module with TRACS be put in a car without TRACS, and how do you tell the difference (it could be obvious and I just don't have it)?

2.I understand that there are rebuilt modules (75.00 on ebaymotors)(135.00 on Victor's volvo website) Are these worth the discount in price for there reliability? How hard is it to rebuild a module?
