850 - Do a transmission flush? 1997

I'm facing a dilemma here. I've got a '97 850t5 with around 110,000 miles on it, and it's shifting pretty hard. Note this doesn't equate to slipping (higher rpm during shift), it just goes in somewhat hard sometimes. Note, this happens only sometimes, other times it will shift just fine. It really isn't related to heat, it will happen regardless of the temperature of the car.

So, the logical solution is to get the transmission flushed. I'm worried that if I get it done I'm going to be sitting on a useless, burned up transmission waiting for a large repair bill.

What do you all think? The transmission doesn't 'slip' per se, but it does shift rather harsh most of the time. Flush or just wait until it's gone and get it replaced? (Or get a new car)

Thanks in advance.
