The ride in my 97 R wagon is a bit harsh. I would like something softer, so I'm opting for 16 inch Columbia rims. My tire of choice is Michelin's HyroEdge, with its 90K warranty, a top ten rating for wet (I live in Oregon in the Willamette Valley which is wet 360 days out of the year), and a ten rating for quiet. I love my peace, conversation and music while I'm driving. The tire specified for the 97 R wagon in a 16-inch is a 205/50/R16. In the HydroEdge Michelin only offers a 205/55/16. I'm not in to speed or performance, and I love most off a nice quiet soft ride. Will the 205/55/R16 work on my R wagon, considering all things like traction control, ABS, etc., or should I forget it? I know the slightly larger 55 will affect my odometer, but I can live with that. But are there other considerations I haven't thought of, like the larger tire rubbing in the fender well, etc.
If the answer is no, I shouldn't consider it, could someone tell me what else I should be looking at? I've looked at the Michelin Pilot, but Michelin doesn't give any kind of mileage warranty on the Pilot--as opposed to 90K on the HydroEdge--and says nothing about wet road handling, which is the major consideration in this part of the world.
