Repair/Replace Cruise Control Vacuum Line S70 1998

Installed a new air pump on my '98 S70 GLT, 99K, and in lifting the battery tray out to get at the pump, the cruise control vacuum line snapped in one place and cracked in another, both under the tray. I removed a 6-8" section and used connectors to replace it with a 12-18" piece of vacuum line. Now, no CC.

Never had CC problems before this. There are no hose kinks, and the electrical connection to the CC pump is attached. The hose connectors I installed seem secure. My guess is I probably damaged the line in another spot out of sight, just because this line and so many other plastic pieces in the engine compartment are brittle with age. I read the archives and learned that no CC is a vacuum line issue at least 80% of the time, so I'm guessing that's what I'm up against.

If there's even the smallest leak in the connections I made, would that cause the CC to fail? If I just replace the entire vacuum line, as I’m planning to do, how much hose will I need and where does the other end of the line attach? Any advice or experience is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
