To chip or not to chip 850 1995

I own a 95' 855T w/ 124K that I have considered adding an IPD chip to. I would appreciate any insight from people who have chipped their cars in regards to the performance improvement that they noticed. Also, is the upgraded exhaust a necessity or can you still realize good gains with chip alone?

Last note, this is no longer serving as the primary family car so I'm not quite as concerned about potential longevity issues. Even without a chip this car never ceases to put a smile on my face when I put down my right foot :)
