hi,
I've had this problem two mornings in a row. The car will crank but won't start. If I give it a bit of gas, it will start, but immediately die if I let go of the gas. Then, after waiting an hour, the car starts fine, but the Check Engine and DSA lights are on. I can turn off the DSA light by pressing the DSA button, but the check engine light remains on. I took it to the dealer and since the problem isn't easily reproducible (they have to wait until tomorrow morning to try to rreproduce the problem) they're not sure exactly what the problem is. They have told me though there's a good chance it's the MAF sensor and they told me it's operating at below tolerances currently ("below 8" whatever that means, the normal range is 8 - 15) so they recommended it getting it replaced no matter what. Replacing this part costs around $400 ($230 for the part itself).
Any thoughts? Any ideas what the problem might be? Is $400 a reasonable fee to replace the MAF?
thanks,
David
