On Thursday, I purchased a 1999 Volvo S70 from a used dealer. Thay wanted $9,995.00 for the car and I talked them down to $7,950.00 and four new tires. It has 103,000 miles, and an almost perfect interior and exterior.(one tiny door ding on the passengers side and one tiny hole in the passengers rear door interior) The engine looks as good as one on a brand new car, and a good inspection of the undercarriage shows no signs of an oil leak, or tranny leak. This is a clean car. I have read that the timing belt needs to be changed every 105,000 miles. Is it better to change it myself, or have a shop do it? I just sold my 90 740 and it was a nightmare, but I think it prepared me for the maintainence on these cars. What should I look for on this car as far as problems, and do you think I was jipped on the car, or a good price? Thanks for any responses. Sorry for the long post.
