Is the ETS problem a 'WHEN' not 'IF' problem S70

We have 65,000 miles on our 1999 S70, and have not experienced any of the signs of a bad ETS. Is the failure rate essentially close to 100%, so that the only question is WHEN the problem will occur, not IF it will occur? From what I have read, it sounds like we're past the time they usually fail...any chance we are going to be lucky on this one? Thanks.
