850 gasoline grades 850

It is springtime and gas prices are up and will probably continue to rise.

My 850 owner's manual says to use super or 91 or 92 octane gas. Being a thrifty fellow, I have downgraded to plus (89 octane) with no negative effect. Is there anything negative (mechanically or performance) that will happen if I use regular (87 octane) gasoline?
