A/C Compressor Clutch

I suspect my A/C compressor clutch is toast.

1995 965 135k miles (yeah I know it's RWD, but the motor is just the 5-Cylinder fit to the FWD + a cylinder)

Symptoms: Rattling / scraping / grinding noise whilst A/C is NOT engaged, no noise, smooth functioning whilst A/C is engaged.

Since I'm planning a T-belt job in the near future, this is a good opportunity to swap out the clutch.

My most sincere hope is that the clutch can be replaced without pulling the compressor. yes / no?

Who manufactured the compressor? I have not had the time to get down and look at the compressor. Is it the ubiquitous Sanden / Sankyo 5 or 7 piston compressor?

Any leads for a supplier of the clutch? I have a few favorite internet suppliers for Sanden parts, but I'm not certain if they stock parts for other compressors.
