Hi,
I bought my 850 wagon a few months ago with about 114000 miles on it. It ran fine then and for the most part still does.
It now has 119000 miles on it (drove it across the country) and has a squealing noise coming from somewhere near the belts on the passenger side of the engine. It is particularly noticeable when the car is started and when the weather is damp.
What could the possible causes be? I did a little searching in this forum and found a range of answers. I thought maybe the aux drive belt might just need replacing, but after seeing the other possibilities, like dying bearings somewhere around there, I am much more paranoid. Especially if this could have something to do with the timing belt. The timing belt was replaced once, I think around 70,000 miles. The aux drive belt feels like it is in good condition, but I haven't done a very careful inspection.
Is this something I can diagnose myself or do I need to get it to a shop ASAP? I would like to get this solved without spending more money than I have to. (well who doesn't right?)
Thanks so much.
P.
