iol leak on 480es possibly 400

I went out to see a 480ES 1991 with 75k on the clock this morning, i hesitated buying as when i took the oil cap of the engine spits oil, also the front end of the engine was very very oily. Also when I took the cap of straightaway white smoke came out of the back of the engine and as soon as I put it back on then it goes away. Other than that it was a gr8 car body and interior wise, can anyone help me, should I buy this or stay away, considering he only wanted £350 for it with 10 mths MOT and no tax. Regards.
