Toe in/out on rear? V70-XC70

Hi all,
I have just purchased a 2001 V70. Lovely! Your site looks the bees knees for Volvo owners, and I'm proud to have joined the club.
I have noticed that there is tyre wear on the outside edge of the near side (thats the left side as I live in UK)
Can anybody suggest a reason for this.
Is the toe adjustable on the rear wheels or do I have a serious problem?
Should I take it to a 4 wheel allignment centre?
She's covered 40,000 miles.
All comments greatly appreciated.
