Hi
I just bought ned struts and shocks alle the way around my Volvo V70 98-mod.(200 000km) The old ones was not completly gone, but gave signs of having see better days. So i desided to get them replaced.(I Bought Monroe parts)
The old struts made no noise, but after replacing the rear struts, the struts are making loud sqeeking noises going over speed bumps, holes etc. It sonds like bad springs in an old bed. I have had this job done by a proffesional, so i complained. They said it would get better, but now its been a whole week with the same noises. I have looked at the job done, by inspecting the car underneath, but i can`t see nothing wrong. What is it with the springs/struts that could be causing these noises? The parts were brand new, original Volvo parts. I bought extra strengthened struts for the rear of the car, could that bee an issue?
I also have a question about the check engine light. Here were i live in Norway we just had a big blizzard. The last week we have gotten 1,2 meters of snow, and the car has handled that superbly. BUT the condissions are off course wet and moist. Suddenly in the middle of the worst snowstorm the check engine light came on. And it stayed on for 2 days, when the conditions were realy bad. Now I have had the car inside a warm garage and the weather conditions are better, and suddenly the chekck engine light have dissapeared. Should i bee consearned? And take the car to the shop, or is this kind of problem common?
(I appologise for bad spelling, but its quite late here in Norway, i have bee showeling snow for 1 hour, had car problems, and are not in the mood for checking my dictionary.. :-)
Would be glad for some help on the problem
Christian
