changing heater hoses 850 1994

I am changing the heater hoses on my '94 850. I bought the new ones, and the ends which go into the heater core have fittings I have not seens before - how do I disconnect them - do I need a special tool? They look a bit like the A/C fitting on my car...do I use that same spring release collar?
