Has anyone installed the iPd Power Steering and ATF in-line filter? 850 1996

Hello,

I have 3 Volvos: 2 '96 850 Wagons with 5 speeds, and '99 XC. The after market supplier iPd has a in-line magnetic filter for the power steering fluid and the automatic transmission fluid. The filter is identical for both the power steering and ATF. Has anyone installed these filters? If so, what has you experience been like.

Looking at the color photo displaying the installation of the filters that is in the iPd catalogue, it seems to me that the in-line filter (which appears to be made of plastic) used for the power steering fluid rests on the exhaust manifold. I'm concerned that it might melt and begin to spray power steering fluid onto the hot exhaust manifold and cause a fire.

I would like to hear about the experiences people have had with the use of these filters. In theory, especially for the power steering fluid, it makes sense to use these filters. Thanks to all who respond.

Hugh
