Remote CD changer V70-XC70

I just purchased my wife a 10 CD remote CD changer for her 2001 V70 2.4T at a Volvo dealer part sale. The selling dealer failed to tell us that a: we needed an installation kit and b: that the CD changer must be initialized by a Volvo dealer by performing a software modification.

I do know that we need the installation kit as I went to install it on the weekend only to discover I needed brackets and a wiring harness.

But my question is, does this CD changer need to be initialized by software or does the radio not recognize the prescence of the CD changer when it is plugged into the wiring harness? The radio is an HU 613.

I hate like heck to have to go back to the dealer for this.
