Transmission Fluid Flush - DO IT! Don't question just DO IT!
I have recently purchased a 95 Volvo 850 Turbo A/T with 178k. A good car yet but as far as maintinence goes it has been very neglected. Anyway... I am just about done with my grocery list of things needed to do to get this car primo. One of the things I have been putting off is the transmission fluid change. The 2nd owner bought the car at 110k and did only synth oil changes every 7k miles. So were talking 70k plus (and who knows how much more) miles on this transmission fluid. So needless to say I am afraid of this working tranny taking a puke after a fresh fluid flush. I did a flush. I have been driving it and it shifts like a dream. I plan to do another change in 1,000 miles.

I went to the hardware store and picked up 4 foot of 1/2 inner diameter clear tubing. The fluid begins to turn red around 12 quarts of flush. I used all 14 quarts simply because that is what I had. Good luck. Hope this helps someone...
