WHEEL BEARING HUB REPLACEMENT EXPERIENCE 850 1994

Well, this morning I started to replace the front wheel bearing hubs on my 850 sedan that had been having the tire noise even after switching brands. I printed the instructions from Bay 13 on the VolvoSpeed web site and that was an excellent reference. I started on the driver's side and it took about 2 hours. The most difficult part was getting the brake disc off. But finally it gave in and came off. I figured it would take less time to do the passenger side since I now knew what to look for. The problem that popped up was the that the axle splines wouldn't come out of the wheel hub assy. I tried the hammering of the shaft nut like I did on the other side and got it to come out about 1/2 way but then the nut started to strip the first 5 threads of the end of the axle that the big nut attaches to. So I gave up and put everything back together and after putting the tire back on and getting it on the ground, I tightened the big axle nut in order to draw the spline shaft back into the wheel hub bearing seat. As luck would have it, it turned out to be the driver's side that was the bad one anyway so now the car drives down the road nice and quiet. I'm wondering how much life the passenger side will have. There is a slight scraping noise on the passenger side that can be heard with the PS window rolled down at low to moderate speeds. I'll jack up the car and see if anything is rubbing under there tomorrow. Any suggestions on how I might get the PS bearing hub off? I'd really like to get it changed out.

Thanks for your input in advance.
