So my V70's transmission finally died (as expected). The part that kills me is that Mt. Kisco Volvo makes it out like this never happens. To have 87K on a transmission and have it completely fail is just not right. Has anyone ever been successful in making a case to Volvo North America? I mentioned to my dealer that I sent out the ATF to Blackstone labs at 22K and the report came back "high in aluminum" and was "abrasive." They got extremely defensive about this and said that I should have brought this up way back then. Like they would have done anything except flush the fluid and say "all better now."
If I get a brand new transmission, they will not tell me anything about why the original had failed.
Lastly, shouldn't they be flushing out and "cleaning" the ATF radiator which may have been the cause to begin with? Their answer: NO
