Hey, I just got the timing on this 2000 S70 done at 104,000. Now, I am new to the B5000 engines so I didn't know that it is best to replace the water pump and the belt together since they are so close and easiest to do at the same time. Lucky for me my mechanic was nice enough to tell me AFTER he had finished the belt and told me to come back with the water pump. So now I have to pay the labor again (not too happy about that) and I am wondering should I get the Volvo original part or any after market that fits?
My concern is: Is this pump gonna fail, ruin my engine and make me have a bad day? Or what is goning to happen? I have heard that if you don't change the pump with the T-belt the new tension will stress the old pump and cause it to fail soon after like 2 or 3 months. I did the timing about 1500 miles ago and I am getting kinda nervous.
He also told me AFTER he was finished with the belt that I needed to replace one or two of the tensioner/rollers on the belts. I did replace the mechanical tensioner on one of the belts so how many more of those are there?
Thanks in advance for the help
John
