There have been several threads regarding (too) firm ride of 850, so I figured I'd share this.

I've owned a '96 855t for 2 years or so, and the ride quality has gotten progressively worse. It started with firm ride which I didn't mind too much, slowly became firmer and harder without me noticing it because it was rather gradual. Recently started making rattling noise from the rear, bouncing almost side to side over bumps.

Took it to a shop and had upper rear shock (struts?) mounts replaced, and oh boy, what a difference. The ride is still firmer than my other car (Maxima), but far from jarring, and I can actually feel the shocks working.

I thought about replacing shocks altogether, but that was unnecessary. Hope it helps those who have too firm a ride in their 850s.
