water pump woes 850 1994

My water pump froze up and snapped by timing belt. Dealer wants $4,300 to fix it up. Car has 185,000 miles. I really love this car. Would hate to give it up but is it worth it? Thinking about taking to indy mechanic. Would welcome feedback.
