2 Quick Questions 850 1994

I just bought a 94 850 wagon and I have two questions

1. Which type (conventional or synthetic) and weight of oil should
I use when changing the oil. The car has 100k on it.

2. I've heard I should change the auto transmission oil frequently in
these vechicles. Is there anything specific I should know about this process?
Is it a straight forward remove the tranny pan and filter and fill with new fluid, or should I keep a quart of the old fluid, which I have heard is the
thing to do in newer cars.
