High-pitched spinning/grinding noise front left of car S70 1998

I own a 1998 S70 T5 M with about 114,000 miles. After starting my car when it's cold, and sometimes when I'm at a stoplight, something "winds up" in the front left of the car, under the hood. I've never been able to figure out what exactly is making the noise but it's now become a bit louder and thus more irritating.

Anyone have an experience like this? If so, any notion of what it might be and/or how to fix it?
