UPDATE: Missing 0's above air vent wheels 850

Here's what I did to solve the problem that I posted yesterday.

Fimo Dough is a moldable clay-like substance that artists use; it's available in many colors, and it is dried in the oven for half an hour to firm it up. Directions are on the package.

I pressed white Fimo Dough into the empty holes so I had a "plug" that was over 1/4" long. I made several of these plugs, as I figured correctly that it would take more than one try to master the process. Package directions say not to leave "raw" Fimo on plastic, so I cleaned off the face when I had ~6 blank plugs to work with. Then I baked the Fimo per the instructions on the package.

When it was solidified and cooled, I took a sharp blade to cut the plug as square as possible. I used 100 grit sandpaper (150 would have been better) to smooth and square the face. Next step was to fill in the center of the plug with black ink, leaving a white ring around the outer edge. I used an Ultra Fine Sharpie for that, and scraped off ink intrusions into the white with a fine-point X-acto blade. With a bit of practice I got the hang of leaving the appropriate width of white around the outside, and needed to clean only a couple of stray black marks off.

I used a little crafters glue (in this case, Alleen's Tacky Glue) to hold the plugs in the dash--and that's all there was to it. Looks almost as good as new, and accomplished in less than an hour, not counting the half hour the Fimo spent in the oven.

Material cost was $.97 plus tax from the local Michael's Crafts. Hope this helps someone else out.
