I had and have Ignition problem with 1995 960. Check Engine light came on. I had Difficulty to start when engine was hot. When running there is valve knocking. Squeaky noise when shut off. Also after of about 5 - 6 miles of driving through the local streets, transmission does not shift the way it should, meaning that the engine races to about 3000 RPM before it shifts to 2nd.
I had the cam sensor cleaned and it seems that the difficult Ignition problem is fixed, but I still have the knocking (which seems to be faster now) and the transmission shift problem is still exist. The squeaky noise is also fixed. I reset the Check Engine light and so far (2 days now) the light has not come on.
Now what I am worried is that why the transmission does not shift right when engine hot. I also have black oil deposit at the bottom of the coolant plastic tank and I am losing Antifreeze and all the usual search turned out with no result.
I myself suspect 1). The RPM and Crankshaft Position Sensor. 2). Knock Sensor. 3). Automatic Transmission ECU. My brain is sizzling. Please Help.
