Chilton's clarification V70-XC70

OK, I am going to do the front wheel bearing on my V70 this weekend and I would like some clarification. They say that after taking off the caliper assembly, then removing the bg 36mm nut that all I have to do is drive the CV shaft assembly out the back. Is this possible without removing the lower ball joint or do I have to pull the lower ball joint so I can move the tower assembly around??????????????
